How to pack your box of photos for scanning

Here's our simple photo packing advice for when you've received your box and you're ready to pack — exciting!

Consider organising later

You might want to think twice about sorting your images before sending them. It can take a lot of time and slow down the process. For photos, it's often quicker to organise them on your computer after scanning.

Estimate, don't count

When placing your order, we ask for an estimate of its size to manage our work efficiently. Every Photo Scans Ireland order is opened and counted precisely, but if you prefer a precise count, feel free to do so when you have the time.

Fill your box

Make sure your box is full, even if you use old newspapers for padding. The goal is to prevent your originals from sliding around during shipping.

Group and label if you wish

If you prefer, group and label your originals inside the box for us to scan accordingly. You can also organise them after receiving your digital scans online or via USB flash drive. For instance, you could label sets like "Dad's 50th birthday" or "Lanzarote 2003". Just make sure to write legibly.

Protect larger photos

Place paper photos in resealable plastic bags; some freezer bags allow writing for labelling. For larger photos like 8" x 10", consider wrapping or backing them with stiff cardboard to prevent bending during transit.
